    Default Msi/asus/dell Laptop?

    Hey guys.

I'm new around here so first of all hello!
I'm a video editor and visual effects person

I'd love to get some help and opinions about which one of this 3 laptops to buy.
I need it for video editing. software like Premiere and After effects, and also Photoshop Illustrator.. Basically the productions premium cs5.

Obviously I'd like it to run as smoothly as possible, considering that sometimes more than 1 software is open.

    MSI GX680 640GB 2.2GHz "15.6

    Dell Inspiron N7110 i7-2670QM "17.3

    Asus K53SC i7-2630QM 2.0GHz "15.6

I will really appreciate a quick answer, because I'm in a hurry to buy the laptop.
    Thanks a lot!

I work with these programs on a day-to-day basis, and a bit more information is needed before anything could be said as to which would be better. Case in point, all 3 units have atleast a half dozen sub-models among them; which ones are we talking about specifically? Links to what you are looking at would be best, but even just what retailer you are viewing them at could help.

All things being equal, the MSI unit is the best for what you are looking to do. Video/Photo editing and creation are processor and memory intensive to an absurd degree. The MSI unit features the most RAM and the best processor, with the best video card - which will come as an added bonus for the video editing side of things; though to less effect than the extra speed on the processor and extra memory.

It would be my choice, of the three. Particularly since every computer at it's core seems to be made by the same parent companies these days - just branded different.

I feel it's also worth noting that with a similar configuration the Puget V542i (or V742i for the larger screen) slides right into the same budget range, and for alittle extra scratch can even be worked to fit your needs even better than any of those 3 units. I've never looked back on putting the full 24gb of memory in my desktop, for certain.

I can't speak for MSI to any regard, or Asus for a full blown unit (just parts), but I know Dell can be a painful entity to deal with and laptops are highly prone to failure under heavy use. [Small size, high heat, limited cooling = bad for electronics]. I've had sundry forum and e-mail exchanges with the Puget crew, and have lurked their forums longer than I have been registered; they are all on the level so far as I can tell - and even in the worst case, atleast they are all here in the US.

That unit has the same processor and memory loadout as the MSI, with a slightly inferior graphics card. As mentioned previously, the dedicated graphics aren't nearly as important as the processor and memory for what you are looking to do; the system would work.
