View Full Version : Sell me on Puget

I know that sounds a bit wrong... I don't really mean to sell myself on your website, though I feel you'd make plenty of money. I'd sell like hotcakes. Anyway, I mean, I'm heading off to college for computer science, and of course I need a computer. I've been looking around and doing plenty of homework, and Puget kept popping up in my Google searches. The website didn't seem quite as flashy and/or professional as others, but I remembered that I was going to stay away from the big guys like Hel...err.. Dell, and gave Puget a closer look. You guys seem really committed to the business, and offer plenty of promises that other companies do not. I'm really afraid of buying a computer, not because computers intimidate me but because my hard-earned cash has to pay for a computer, books, tuition, and...oh, food :)

So my question is, why should I pick you guys over some other nice-looking companies like ABS (who I'm strongly considering) and ibuypower?

Yeah, don't get Dell...or HP...or Gateway...or...heck, just get Puget. Big companies may be cheaper, but that's because they just use crap parts and have not-so-good service. From what I've seen, Puget knows what they're doing and they have excellent service.

Taken from our FAQ:

Q: Why should I order through Puget Custom Computer Systems instead of a larger company like Dell?

A: First, Puget Custom Computer Systems has one thing Dell can never have: extremely responsive and extensive customer service. Our average response time to client emails is under an hour, and it is not uncommon for us to exchange a dozen emails with a client before they purchase. It's not Dell's fault that they can't perform those services -- they are simply too big to offer that. If you take a look at our customer testimonials, you will see that we have an excellent record when it comes to service. We will stop at nothing to make sure you are completely happy with your purchase. That is our main strength over Dell. Second, we believe our systems are configured much more intelligently than Dell's. Since they do not have the time to work with each and every customer, their computers are not tailored to fit each customer's unique needs. Puget Custom Computer Systems, on the other hand, makes sure to take the time to correctly configure a computer. While working with you to put together a computer system, the first question we ask is "What will this computer be used for?" If your computer supplier, whether it be Dell or Puget Custom Computer Systems, does not know the answer to that question, there is no way the computer can be tailored to suit your needs!

But the most compelling evidence that Puget is the best out there is in our testimonials! I honestly do not know of a company with better testimonials :)

i just wanted to let this person know that ibuypower and cyberpower are ripoff companies that use trashcan junk in their slaptogether computers they alos use glue to keep some of their trashcan parts from falling off during shipping.
go to resellersratings.com and find these companys to read all the bad reviews youll be glad you did not buy from them or if you do buy from them you get what you pay for :-D

That's all very convincing. Also, how well is the service for people outside of Seattle? I'm all the way in Cleveland, Ohio.

I honestly think our warranty service is one of the best in the industry!

Taken from http://www.pugetsystems.com/warranty.php :

The Puget Custom Computer System warranty covers parts, labor, and shipping as a result of a defective part, parts, or system configuration. In short, it is our comittment to maintaining the functionality of your machine during the life of the warranty, and the only cost that you will ever have to pay is the cost of the system itself and the initial shipping of the system. We take care of everything else.

If we find that a part is defective, and you are capable of swapping out the part yourself, we can just send a replacement part out to you. The replacement part will include a return shipping label so you can return the defective part to us at no cost to you. If the system requires more than a part replacement, we will pay to have the system shipped back to us for diagnostics and repair though the issue of an electronic return label through UPS.com.

We also have a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the system for ANY reason, we will give you a FULL refund (no restocking fee). After the 30 day term, the system can be returned only by special permission, at the current value of the hardware minus a 15% restocking fee.

Technical issues are handled via email and phone. The primary (and fastest) method of communication is email.

Now, on the negative side, there is one thing we do not (yet!) have -- nationwide onsite service. If you have a severe problem, you will need to take the time to ship the computer back in, but we will pay all shipping costs.

Cleveland Rocks! (Or so that song tells me).

Whenever someone wants me to convince them to buy Puget, I prefer to let our customers speak for themselves:

There's really nothing we could say for ourselves, that isn't better said in those testimonials. :-)

Your reviews and testimonials sure are impressive, and your near perfect rating on resellerratings means a lot to me. One more issue, though, and it's one of security. Business, especially the computer business, is a very dynamic thing, and I've seen many companies fall through the cracks. Yours is such a small company in its early stages. How confident are you that you'll stick around long enough to provide the 3-year warranty I intend to purchase with my computer? I know I'm giving quite a bit of scrutiny here, but I think you can understand my concern, since I'm a poor college student. If I decide to pay the extra buck for the quality and service Puget promises, it had better be worth it.

Welcome, RamenNoodleGod! I ate bountifully from your Ramen all through college :)

Scrutiny is GOOD! Richard and I were just talking about this the other day. When you're a quality company doing a good job, scrutiny is good. We feel that our biggest loss of customers are to the people that don't take the time to find out what makes us so good. We're going to be making some changes to our website over the next week to try and cater to the "skimmers" who don't take the time to read or do homework.

I'm not sure what guarantee I can give you on whether we'll be around in three years, aside from the comment that I fully intend to be! We're doing awesome right now....we've been holding for about two years at 300% growth per year....before that it was even higher! As the owner of the company, I can guarantee that if we do ever go out of business, it won't be without a long and hard fight!
