Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to give you all a heads up for the new system we've been building for the past few months. We're really excited about it, and hope to be launching it within the month.

What we're trying to develop is a system that extensively tests every computer we sell with a thorough set of benchmarking software, and records the scores. Once we've got a decent catalog of data in the system, this will be able to offer all our customers (or maybe just us tech-geeks) a way to compare the various upgrades to your system.

For example, you order a system that scores decently on a hypothetical benchmark. When your computer ships, you'll get all that information about how your machine scored, compared to systems just above and below your current system. You might see that a $200 CPU upgrade will barely improve your performance, but a $40 hard drive upgrade will pay off in spades!

Most importantly, once enough data gets cataloged, we'll be able to offer these sorts of suggestions before the purchase, helping our customers get the very best performance / cost! This will give us a powerful too to compare motherboards, RIAD arrays, video cards, etc. We'd like to offer a "Virtual Benchmark", which will roughly estimate your systems benchmarks dynamically as you configure your systems!

Of couse, this demands you feedback! What do you think? Do you have any ideas for other systems we should implement? Post your thoughts below! :-)

HardOCP has a pretty good tool for doing multiple benchmarks in UT2003. You should check that out sometime. :-)

This sounds like a great idea. Trying to build a custom computer and decide which choices to make can be very difficult

I'd definitely like to see benchmark scores for my system, (not built yet),and the comparative system you're planning sounds terrific. Have you been able to implement it yet?

I love testing my system but don't have the resources to get all of the, shall we say, industrial strength software. So, again, I'd love to see you provide this service!

The system is coming along actually. Right now, we need to upgrade our server software. It seems we'll be doing the server upgrades when we move warehouses at the beginning of next month.

So... development is on hold till the start of August, but hopefully it'll be ready not long after. :thumbsup
