I am building my first computer this summer and I had originally decided on XP hme cause its cheaper. But I was also thinking about trying out some animation with Maya, but Maya requires Pro. Other than the price and Extra networking features, what's the difference between the two? I am mostly concerend with; Will XP Pro work with games just as well and stable as XP Home?

Windows XP Home - This is the current operating system of choice for nearly all home users. Its stability is about on par with Windows 2000, and it has many (many, many) more built in features and imbedded drivers. This is clearly the most convenient of operating systems. Puget uses this operating system in over 90% of the systems it builds.

Windows XP Pro - For most users, the upgrade to the Pro version of XP is not needed. It is intended mainly for server or power user environments. It has capability for multiple processors, and has additional encryption and networking capibilities.

But take a look at http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_home_pro.asp, it is a great article that lists all the differences.

The winsupersite isn't working. IE says it can't find the server.

Weird. Maybe our link overwhelmed their server with vast amounts of traffic. Or not.

Let's give it a day, it should come back.
