So you can only turn it on every two days, and even then it only stays on for a minute?

That's crazy! I've never heard of anyone ever having that problem. And I've been on a lot of computer forums. :stare

Hi Robby,

We just got in the office this morning, sorry we weren't around to help you on the weekend. We got your emails, you should be hearing from us now!

We'll get you straightened up.

Yep....I don't think I've ever gotten so many business voicemails, personal voicemails, emails, and forum posts all in one weekend. You're one persistent guy!

Sorry I was stuck all weekend in Centralia with a broken down car :thumbsdown

We're putting together a "my computer won't start" troubleshooter for cases like this in the future, but for now, I'll just ask the questions!

I need you to give me as much information as possible. I have about 2 dozen snippets of information in various emails and voicemails you left, but it is so fragmented that I'm having a very hard time piecing together what the exact problem is. What I need you to do is sit down and write out everything -- when the problem started, exactly what it does, what patterns (if any) you can discern, etc.

Thanks!

I was joining a clan online then suddenly the whole computer just turned off. I kept on trying to turn it on, and it wouldnt go on, but it seemed that the motherboard was still on because the green light near it was on. I told my dad he couldn't fix it, the day after you emailed him, and you said we might have jammed the button. He took the actual wire out and tried to do it manually that worked and turned on for a minute and went off. 2 days later I was on my old computer playing a game, and out of the blue it turned on 45 secs later back off. Sorry my spelling is bad I hope you can still understand this. English is my worst subject.

Edit: Fixed all the spelling and punctuation errors. :-D (Well, most of them) - Richard

Hmm, that is strange, especially the "out of the blue power on." When you say he turned in on manually , can you tell me what it was he did?

Is there any history of power dips or spikes in your house? That might at least explain the random power on....

As for the computer only staying on for 45 sec or so, do you know enough about computers to take a look at the heatsink on the CPU, to make sure that's mounted properly?

Looks like I agree that a return label is in order, but let's look over these last possiblities real quick.

We had a surge before we got the computer. For that purpose my dad bought a surge protector so that wouldn't happen. You know that little click thing that makes the button push down? Instead of using the button he just used that. Like you said just incase we jammed it in.

Alright, my head is starting to hurt! Emailing you a return label this evening, we'll get it all fixed up. If you recall, your last machine died from a power surge, so I'm glad you have that protector now!
