As PCI-E becomes the new standard, we've seen a recurring problem at Puget in the last few months -- not enough PCI slots! When our customers want to add a sound card, wireless card, firewire card, and RAID controller, there just flat out aren't enough slots!

Fortunately, the first wave of PCI-E cards is in and part of Puget's line! Here are the parts we added just today:

PowerColor Theatre 550 Pro TV Tuner PCI-Express

Based on the newest ATI TV Tuner chipset, the Theater 550 offers better picture qualilty and lower CPU usage than the E-Home Wonder it is replacing in our product line. It is fully complatible with Windows MCE as well. And in PCI-E, you get to keep those PCI slots for other devices!

Koutech Firewire a PCI-Express Card

If you need basic firewire and your motherbaord doesn't have it onboard, this is a great way to get it...without using up a PCI slot (see a theme here?)

Koutech Firewire b + USB2 PCI-Express Card
http://www.pugetsystems.com/part_info.php?part=3358
You'd be suprised how many of our clients say there is no such thing as too many ports! This PCI-E card has USB2.0 and Firewire 800!

Next, we have a few other new parts that don't fall into the category of PCI-E, but following the same theme of saving your PCI slots, we also added a few USB products today:

Linksys USBBT100 USB 1.1 Bluetooth Module
http://www.pugetsystems.com/part_info.php?part=3362

Linksys WUSB54G 802.11g USB Module
http://www.pugetsystems.com/part_info.php?part=3361

The neat part about those USB devices is that if you would like, we can even mount them internally in your chassis. With the use of USB headers, some minor case modding, and the always-useful zip ties, we can give you 802.11g and bluetooth, internal, without using up PCI slots! Or if you don't mind a few more external devices, you can keep them plugged into your rear USB slots, where you may get better reception.

Soon to follow will be PCI-E RAID controllers!
