I'm 16, looking for a job right now so I can help with moving costs, but I also want to get a gaming computer around $2000. I was wondering what good online games you guys recommend. :help :-)

Come on now, Dulz. WOW takes a monthly subscription fee. Guild Wars all the way! ;-)

For FPS games, I'm a fan of the Delta Force series and Halo PC.

Well... Let's start at the top.

AMD or Intel? Intel, like you've selected, is faster for straight calculations and CPU usage, but AMD chips are better for gaming. I'm an AMD fan, myself.

Second, CPU cooling. The SwifTek heatsink is really heavy. I would suggest the XP-90 or XP-120, because they're both lighter and quieter. Also, the XP-90 will save you some cash.

Another thing is your hard drives. Two hard drives can be nice, but I would suggest only one. A single Seagate 160 GB hard drive should be plenty of space. This will also save you some money, as well as make the inside of your system much neater. If you really want two hard drives, I would suggest getting both of them with the same interface. That is, either both SATA or both not SATA. Again, this will make cabling neater.

Next, your sound card. The card you have chosen comes with a front panel that gives you line inputs, front headphone out, and a few other things. It's really only useful for people who do a lot of sound recording on their computers. I would suggest the Audigy 2 ZS, which is the exact same card, but without the front connector. It's also $130-ish less expensive.

Now, all that money you've saved? Dump it into your video card. A 6600 is a good card, but for gaming, you're going to want more. By dropping a hard drive and downgrading your sound card, you can upgrade to a Radeon X800 XL.

And don't forget Battlefield 2 coming soon to stores near you! I am also a fan of Halo and Counter Strike: Source.

Thanks, Dan. :-) I was wondering how to save some money, besides the fact that I didn't know what I was doing. :rofl I don't know how two hard drives got on there, though. I thought I only chose one... :compow

[Edit: Well, that saved me some money, and now I have a good machine waiting for me. Thanks for your help.]

Well, Im new to the forums and i just ordered my PCC last sunday. Im getting a shuttle SFF computer with 3.0ghz processor, 1gb of RAM, 256mb PCI-Express Radeon X800XL. I like to play FPS games alot and i was wondering if anybody knows if this system could play Battlefield 2 with all the graphics set on high?(I also play Battlefront, Counter Strike-Source, Command and Conquer Generals, and the other Battlefield games.)

Well... Let's take a look!

- Minimum Specification:
CPU: 1.7 Ghz
RAM: 512 Mb
Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5700, ATI Radeon 8500 or ATI Radeon 9500
with 128 Mb of RAM

- Recommended Specification:
CPU: 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 1 Gb
Video Card with at least 256 Mb of RAM

Looks to me like you're above the recommended specifications. You should be able to play it with everything turned all the way up!

Awesome, thats what i like to hear. The main purpose for the computer is going to be gaming. And my favorite game is battlefield 2. i cant wait to play it with all the graphics up. right now im using an HP laptop. Unfortunately i didnt know much about computers when i got it so it doesnt play games to well. it has a ATI Radeon 9000 mobility igp wich ive found not to work on higher end games.

Insane, isn't it? System requirements are getting incredibly heavy. I remember the days when it was 32 MB video card reccomended, and I'm not that old, either!

I remember when I ordered my compy (last summer) the price of my vid card (AIW Radeon 9600XT) was ~$300. I could get a 256 MB graphics card for that much now...Things are really changing fast

GUILD WAR , only $49.99

make sure you're getting the NEW COMING DRAGON ALUMINUM CASE.~~~

and with over 600watt true power....

otherwise you can't use everything you have with your comp

Frankly, the truePower series leaves much to be desired. Seasonic and PC Power & Cooling both make way better power supplies. Either of them could power any rig the truePower could. The PC Power & Cooling 850 watt power supply could run circles around any truePower in existance. (Technically, at room temperature, the PCP&C 850 can suppy up to 950 watts. The 850 watts is at 50 degrees Celsius.)

Secondly, we don't carry Chieftecs. The closest thing is the Chen Ming, and we're phasing those out. A Lian-Li PC7H+ is every bit as good. A Lian-Li V1000 is even better.
