Just wondering, I have atm these chosen for my comp:
Hard Drive Western Digital Raptor SATA 74GB(10,000RPM)
Hard DriveWestern Digital WD1600JD 160.0GB SATA(7200RPM)
What would be the benefit of upgrading to another Raptor74 with a RAID 0 config? What would the main use be, is it worth the increase in price? Just curious, thanks.

If you ask me, RAID 0 isn't worth the extra money. The Raptor is plenty fast by itself. I'm atMillion Man LAN right now and a little while ago a friend of mine's RAID 0 Raptor array just fell apart and he had to reinstall Windows. :shock

Agreed. If you've got raptors, there's no point in RAIDing them. Plus, I don't trust RAID configurations. Too many people I know have suffered because of drive failures with RAID. By the way, did I mention that you should always back up your data?

What exactly does the raptor drive help with? loading times or what?

Every single time you get something off your hard drive, or add something to it, the Raptor will be faster than other hard drives. Programs (including Windows) will load faster. If you should need to use a swap file (where the computer stores information on the hard drive instead of in the RAM), it'll work faster.
Personally, I like RAID 1. It's where both drives are perfect mirror-images. Loose a hard drive? No problem! Also, because the system can pull data off both hard drives, it's (theoretically) as fast as RAID 0 when loading.

I see, thanks for the info.
