I have this case: Chenming 601-BLK Mid-Tower Case (sorry, I can't find a link for it). It's a beauty, but for the door in the front.

The door swings out to the left. For some reason, I assumed the door was of the type that slides back into one side of the case body. I can't believe I haven't accidentally kicked the door off the case yet, I've come so close to doing so too many times! Now that my warranty is up (or nearly up, I haven't checked), I am itching to remove this pesky door. Or, better yet, replace it with some sort of cover that slides out of the way somehow.

I know nothing about "case mods", not being a gamer, but from peeking through this forum it sounds like this is not the same thing. :D Still, any thoughts would be appreciated. :)

I'll have to take a look at a Chenming when I get in on Monday....probably just a matter of taking out a few screws! Bump this thread if I don't remember :)

Heh... Gotta love cases with doors. If you open the door and look at the top hinge, you'll see that it's really just a small post on the case that fits into a notch on the door. The door also has a small 'arm' that reaches around, lholding the post in place. If you push that arm down untill it clears the post, you can tilt the door out a bit, and then lift it up and off the bottom hinge. Don't worry, it shouldn't void your warranty to take it off. In fact, it won't even damage anything; the door goes right back on the same way it comes off.

Thanks, Dan. I noticed that the inside of the door is rather dusty, as are the ledges of the front of the case under the door, so I figured that taking the door off would not make much of a difference in such protection. The door has a lock on it, so I was thinking that might be its main function, and being at home, I don't need that. I would rather take the door off correctly than watch it fly across the room from an accidental kick, as I'm sure will happen now that I've wrecked the good karma by talking about it out loud. :-D

I did try the pushing down as you mentioned, but very tentatively as I wasn't sure that was the way to go. I'll give it another shot, thanks. :)
