Hey guys, I'm heading to college this fall. IUP (Indiana University of PA) I'm majoring in Computer Science (Applied) at least atm. Just wondering what exactly you would look for when hiring somebody, any specific training or special courses? Not looking for a job, just preparing myself so I can take the right stuff. Thanks for any input.

Around here, I say "you can teach anyone how to build a computer, but you can't teach values." Dependability, truly caring about the job, doing the best you can do....I look for those qualities FAR more than I look for computer qualifications. Of course, those are important too.... :)

That's because....computer science...is awesome. I would like to be a game developer. How 'bout you guys?

I'm going to be a programmer/analyst. Game development is some pretty intense stuff, y'know. I'm not sure how those guys don't commit suicide more often with all the stress.

And that's one of the main reasons I'm considering Puget. There was a time when these qualities were much sought after. But not anymore. Why not? It doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm also leaning towards programmer. It's not a definite though, I want to see what I like best in college before I make a final decision.

Yeah, but be ever watchful. All the IT jobs are getting outsourced to places like India. One thing's for sure: programmers don't do it for the money. Debugging code all day is hardly any fun, so I've concluded that we comp sci types can only be insane.

We're looking for a software supplier right now, and if we find a good one, we'll be able to offer games with our systems. Of course, as with anything we sell, each game would be installed, updated, and tested. Richard quickly volunteered to be the one doing the testing!
